The Rosas Mines, nestled in the hills of southwestern Sardinia, open their doors to schools for a unique, engaging and exciting educational experience. A place where mining history comes to life, offering students the opportunity to immerse themselves in the past and discover the miners’ work up close.
During the visit, children can explore a real mine, walking through tunnels carved into the rock and breathing in the authentic atmosphere of an underground world full of charm and fascination. The experience continues in the laveria, where fully functioning historic machinery tells the story of the hard work of extracting and processing minerals. The sound of machines in action, the smell of ore dust, and the grandeur of moving gears will make the visit an unforgettable multisensory experience.
In addition to the guided tour, Rosas Mines offers interactive educational workshops designed to engage students of all ages through hands-on, experimental activities. From mineral discovery to simulated mine work, each workshop is designed to turn history into an adventure to be experienced firsthand.

LITTLE MINERS
An adventure between play and discovery
The Little Miners workshop is designed to introduce young children to the world of mining in a simple and engaging language. The experience combines knowledge, fun and creativity, turning the visit into a child-friendly educational journey.
Accompanied by guides, participants will walk the 500 meters between the museum and the mine, discovering along the way the miners’ trades through a fascinating narrative. A small treasure hunt will make the walk even more fun.
The workshop will end with a creative activity: children will make a drawing enriched with collages and silhouettes of the mine’s characters, together with the two friendly furry guardians who guard the site.

MINERALAB - From mine to object.
A workshop between history, science and creativity
Mineralab is an itinerary designed to take children and young people to discover the world of mining, the hard work of miners and the processes that brought minerals from the mine to the finished object.
After a guided tour of the mine and laveria, participants will follow the minerals’ journey from extraction to sorting to processing. In the workshop, they will become protagonists in a unique activity: they will make a mold and witness the smelting of metal, transforming the raw material into a small artistic artifact to take home.
